Description
This is a large warehouse or shop, found in bustling cities like Osaka and Edo. Customers were received at the front room facing the street, while activities related to the trade of the family was conducted in the back of the house or in an enclosed backyard. These types of two-storied houses gave the family the luxury of a private second floor for living quarters.
